A wacky inventor has launched a product for carrying bottles of booze to your Christmas party.

Called the "thingumy," the £6 universal bicycle mount can either be strapped to your bike frame, ideal for carrying festive tipples, or attached to your body as a practical bike light holder.

With four days to go, the thingumy has already passed its £500 Kickstarter funding goal.

London-based "inventor, builder, dreamer" Yannick Read explains: "I'm always dreaming up ways to make life on two wheels as easy as possible. I designed this for lights, locks, bottles of rum; you name it, thingumy can carry it.

"Made from upcycled inner tubes, thingumy is adjustable so you can strap pretty much any bike light or small torch to the back of your hand, or ankle. This allows you to focus the light exactly where you want: on the road, it might be a distracted driver waiting to make a turn; on a trail, it might be overhanging branches or another obstruction beyond your field of view.

"Another benefit of the thingumy is that with a slight change of hand position, you can get a dipped or full-beam effect. I find this useful if I’m riding a trail at night and there are people on foot that I don’t want to dazzle.

"Here's the really good bit. As well as being a universal mount for bicycle lights, you can use thingumy to carry a jacket, pump, lock, bottle of wine, a bunch of bananas.

"With regards to the production, thingumy is made by hand by me here in London and using upcycled material where possible."
