Police searching for man who attempted to kidnap 13-year-old girl in Germantown

    A man attempted to kidnap a 13-year-old girl in Germantown on Friday evening, police said.

    The girl was walking home from 7-Eleven at 12681 Clopper Road around 8 p.m. when the attempted kidnapping took place as she walked north on Mateny Road, according to police.

    The man, while still in his vehicle, asked the girl if she needed a ride. When she said no, the man exited his car and grabbed and pulled her arm.

    The girl was able to flee herself from the man and ran home and told her parents, who called police.

    The man was described by the girl as Hispanic with a thick accent and clean shaven. He was further said to be possibly in his 30s, 5-foot-10 and around 160 pounds. The man also smelled “clean” as if he had recently bathed and wore a black jacket and blue jeans.

    The man’s vehicle was described as white and possibly a smaller SUV.

    According to the girl, another man who was walking his dog witnessed the attempted kidnapping and told the suspect to stop.
