Angela Alsobrooks first woman elected county executive in Prince George's County
LARGO, Md. (ABC7) —
Prince George’s County executive-elect Angela Alsobrooks officially opened her transition office in Largo Wednesday.
Since she ran unopposed, her win was a foregone conclusion, but now begins the business of running a big county.
Alsobrooks becomes the first female county executive in Prince George’s County, embracing the fact that she is one of hundreds of women swept into elective office yesterday..
"I'm a huge beneficiary of the 'Pink Wave.' I'm in a jurisdiction where I can receive a call from the mayor of Baltimore, who is a woman, and the mayor of D.C., who is a woman," said Alsobrooks.
Alsobrooks says when she is sworn in in early December, she'll be ready to be up and running.
Already today, she is maiming job offers to those who will fill her cabinet in Largo.
