Police: Parents arrested after mother found high, unconscious in car with child, cocaine

Two parents were arrested Sunday after authorities say the mother was found unconscious and then high with her small child inside a car with cocaine, heroin and other drugs in Prince William County.

Prince William County Police said they were called to a parking lot in the 6500 block of Trading Square around 7:06 p.m., where officers found 26-year-old Erica Bright unconscious in the passenger seat of a car.

Police said Bright was awake when they arrived and they determined she was under the influence of a drug. The child was unhurt and Bright refused medical attention.

Police said they searched the car and found crack cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana.

The child's father, 30-year-old John Bright, eventually came back to the car and police arrested both parents. Erica Bright is charged with felony child neglect, possession of marijuana, and possession of a schedule I or II narcotic. John Bright is charged with felony child neglect and possession of a schedule I or II narcotic.

The child was released to the care of a family member.
