Police: 3 dead, 1 injured in single-vehicle crash in Seat Pleasant

Three people were killed and another was injured early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Seat Pleasant.

Prince George’s County police said the car was traveling on Martin Luther King Jr. Highway around 3:55 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned near Glen Willow Drive.

Prince George's County Police Chief Henry Stawinski said the vehicle did not appear to be speeding when it left the road.

According to authorities, three have been confirmed dead, while a fourth occupant was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash and the identities of the victims.

As of around 8:50 a.m., westbound lanes of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway remain closed between Glen Willow Drive and Booker Drive, the Maryland State Highway Administration said. On eastbound Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, the left turn also is closed.
