Police: Man attacked with hammer in Logan Circle; search for suspect underway

(Metropolitan Police Department)

A man was attacked with a hammer near Logan Circle Thursday afternoon.

DC Police say two men were arguing in the 1500 block of 14th Street, NW, at around 4:04 p.m.

ABC7's Tom Roussey reports during the argument, one of the men allegedly spit on the other man before chasing him into the Cork & Fork wine shop. That's when the man pulled out a hammer and struck the other man repeatedly in the head.

A person with the victim smashed a bottle of wine over the hammer attacker's head before he fled the scene, Roussey reports.

Police said the victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Now, police are searching for the man who struck him.

Police said he was caught on a nearby surveillance camera.

Police ask that anyone with information about the incident to contact police at (202) 727-9099.

UPDATE: D.C. police have released new photos of the suspect.
