Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department have arrested a man suspected of inappropriately touching a young girl at the Rockville Memorial Library on Dec. 15.

Authorities have arrested and charged 26-year-old Keelan M. Sternklar with committing a third-degree sexual offense and a second-degree assault against a 5-year-old female.

On Dec. 15 at approximately 6 p.m., Rockville City Police officers responded to a call to the Rockville Memorial Library for the report of a suspect who had pulled down the girl's pants and touched her inappropriately. Police said the girl screamed and told her parents, who contacted authorities.

On Thursday, Rockville City Police observed a man inside a coffee shop in Rockville -- approximately one block from the library. The description of the person inside looked like the person of interest in the investigation.

Sternklar was arrested at a homeless shelter facility at 16911 Crabbs Branch Way in Derwood. During an interview with detectives, Sternklar stated that he was in the library during the time that the sexual offense occurred.

Sternklar was transported to the Central Processing Unit for processing. Bond information is not yet available.
