Cheering rang through Nationals Park on Saturday afternoon.

Two days after their huge win, Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals brought the Stanley Cup to the Nationals home game.

“It’s very emotional because it’s a team that just has such great heart and they are just so compassionate about what they do,” fan Juliana Luz said.

Ovechkin stepped up to the pitcher’s mound and threw the first pitch, which sailed over Max Scherzer's head. He then asked for the ball and connected on his second attempt.

“It’s was hard, you know? I think I did a nice job,” Ovechkin said, smiling.

Capitals players stood alongside the Nationals players before the start of the game.

Ovechkin hoisted the cup over his head as he walked around the field. The crowd cheered in response.
