Worker seriously injured after being hit by steel rod at construction site in D.C.

A worker was seriously injured Tuesday morning after he was hit by a steel rod at a construction site in Northeast Washington.

The unidentified man was placed in a rescue basket and is being lifted by a crane. Fire officials say he will be taken to an area hospital.

DC Fire and EMS officials say the man was hit by a rebar, which is a steel rod with ridges for use in reinforced concrete, according to
