FBI finds woman with connection to kidnapping for ransom scheme
SAN ANTONIO - The FBI located a woman Monday in connection to an alleged kidnapping for ransom scheme in Laredo.
Investigators found Brittany Pena, 22, who is believed to have a role in a kidnapping scheme where undocumented immigrants were kidnapped in Laredo and held for ransom. Two men were arrested and charged Monday for their ties to the scheme, the FBI announced Monday.
At least three individuals kidnapped the immigrants, holding them against their well. The kidnappers allegedly called the victims' family members to demand ransom for their release. The investigation revealed these victims were held captive for several days, threatened with weapons and provided limited food.
The FBI did not announce whether Pena is facing any charges.
