Virginia man erects electric fence to keep school kids off lawn
HENRICO Co., Va. (WSET) -- A Henrico County man took down an electric fence he put up early Tuesday.
WTVR reports that the fence separated his yard from a school bus stop.
The man, named Bryan, said he was sick of students who cursed, fought, and littered while waiting for the school-provided transportation. He mentioned that the trespassing signs he put up years ago haven't made much of an impact.
"Nothing stops people," the man from Virginia said.
So, he hoped the battery powered electric fence would bring the relief he was looking for.
Bryan had to remove the fence later that day after he learned that the fence was on county property rather than his own land.
"I went ahead and moved it today because it was not in the right place," Bryan said.
They were concerned as children were being dropped off to catch the bus on the first day of school.
One neighbor said he touched the fence.
"I understand his concern. I just don't think he understood the neighbors' concern about their kids. One of them could touch it, fall into it, and get shocked," the neighbor said.
According to Bryan, he would consider putting up another fence, but is hoping that he will not have to do so.
