From the sideline to the headlines: Nick Cross' quick path to football stardom

From the sidelines to the headlines, DeMatha's Nick Cross has quickly become a top football prospect.

Nick Cross never played football until he got to DeMatha.

"I always wanted to play since I was a little kid," Nick Cross said.

But his dad wanted him to wait.

"He would rather me hold off until high school," Cross said. "He was worried about concussions and stuff."

Now, he is the No. 1 prospect in Maryland and the top safety recruit in the country.

"I used to pray every night that I would become one of the top safeties in the country," Cross said.

Not only did he never play football, but he started off at defensive end and then switched to safety.

In his senior season, Nick is also focused on academics with a 3.6 GPA.

Nick is a perfect example of how hard work pays off every time.
